Intrauterine insemination, commonly known as IUI or Artificial Insemination, is one of the simpler fertility treatments available for couples who are finding it difficult to conceive naturally. It may be recommended when the woman’s fallopian tubes are open and healthy, and the male partner’s sperm count is adequate for the procedure.
IUI involves placing specially prepared sperm directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation to improve the chances of fertilisation. The procedure can be carried out using the husband’s sperm or donor sperm, depending on the couple’s needs and the recommended treatment plan.
Although this treatment is generally believed to be less successful than IVF treatment, it does often result in conception, and can be a great first step for couples who are unsure about IVF
