Pregnancy Tips: Monitor Your Fertile Days

Untitled-8

Using an Ovulation prediction kit or something as basic as a thermometer and calendar, you can easily find out your pattern of most fertile days of the month. This occurs sometime between day 9 and day 14 of your monthly cycle.

Couples today have an added advantage – they can rely on technology more than ever! You can use smartphone apps to store details of your menstrual cycles. These apps are designed to predict your fertile period and will also send a reminder.

If all of this sounds too flimsy, don’t worry. Mother Nature has given you a wide window period by increasing the life cycle of the 20 million sperms fighting over your one egg! Healthy sperms can stay in the uterine tract for about 72 hours, hereby tripling the possibilities of conceiving if these 72 hours include the time for ovulation.

Basic Overview
You’re ready to get pregnant, and you want to know when you’re most likely to conceive. That means figuring out when you’re ovulating. First, review the basics:

  • You can ovulate anywhere from 13 to 20 days before your period.
  • To get pregnant, you should have sex a few days leading up to and on the day of ovulation.
  • Sperm can live up to 6 days in your body, but your egg can only survive 12 to 24 hours. That’s why having sex before and during ovulation is recommended, so that the odds are best of sperm and egg meeting.
  • Basal body temperature (BBT) charting is sometime used to determine if you have ovulated, but it’s not foolproof.
